Most endgame trainers show you the answer. ChessEndings makes you win it. Every ending is played out against an engine tuned for maximum practical resistance: it never hands you the win. Spoil it and the tablebase names the exact move that threw it away. Come back later and the board is mirrored or color-swapped, so you learn the method, not the squares. It also scans your real games for the endgames you misplayed. Free tier, no signup, runs in the browser. 6 languages.

I kept "knowing" endgames I couldn't actually win. Reading a Lucena diagram and converting one against a defender who refuses to cooperate are different skills, and only the second one shows up in a real game. So ChessEndings never shows you a solution. You play the ending out. The opponent is a client-side Stockfish tuned for maximum practical resistance: it never plays the engine-best move that hands you the win. When you spoil the position, the tablebase tells you exactly which move threw it away and why. Come back to the same ending later and the board is mirrored or color-swapped, so memorizing squares gets you nothing. It also scans your real games and hands back the endgames you actually misplayed. The free tier is 24 positions, no signup, plays in the browser. Six languages. Happy to answer anything.

Who hunted ChessEndings?

ChessEndings was hunted by Antoine Tamano. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
