This Thanksgiving, make every grocery trip a healthy one. Checkit lets you scan any shelf, fridge, or product to instantly see how items score on health, sustainability, and ethics (no barcode needed). Whether your cousin has allergies or you’re choosing cleaner ingredients, Checkit helps you know what’s really inside your stuff(ing).
The timing of this launch is very suitable, would check it out in the nearby stores, i hope it works in all the local stores too.
I really overwhelmed about the launch of this project. I actually built a barcode-scanning app years ago to score food for healthiness, so seeing something that works without barcodes is amazing. I’m definitely downloading it and trying it out on my next grocery run — thanks for building this!
Many congratulations on the launch, It is great to see you all build great things, what geography does it support at the moment or it can be used anywhere in the world?
Grats!! What geography does it support at the moment or it can be used anywhere in the world?

Super impressive work — this feels like the future of grocery shopping. I love that Checkit goes beyond basic nutrition labels and actually surfaces health, sustainability, and ethics in a way that’s easy to understand, not overwhelming. The “no barcode needed” scanning plus the AR-style overlay is a huge UX win for real-world use, especially when you’re comparing multiple products on a shelf.
The focus on explaining why something is flagged (additives, sugars, packaging impact, brand practices, etc.) instead of just giving a vague score is a big trust builder. And the idea of earning rewards for scanning while making cleaner choices is a smart way to build a habit loop.
Excited to see where you take this next (especially recommendations and multi-product comparisons) — this is exactly the kind of tool that can quietly but meaningfully upgrade everyday decisions. Congrats to the whole team on the launch!

“Since Checkit evaluates sustainability and ethics beyond basic nutrition, how do you verify and update those data points over time? Are they sourced automatically, or curated manually?”
“I’m curious — how does Checkit maintain detection accuracy when scanning items on crowded shelves, where multiple products overlap visually? Does the AR model isolate individual items, or does it rely on contextual cues from the scene?”
extremely tidy use case. An actual friction is resolved by real-time clarity at the shelf. Congratulations on your shipment!
@Checkit I'm curious: How does the computer vision model handle loose produce or obscure local brands that might not be in major databases? Does it rely on reading the visible ingredient text via OCR, or is it purely image recognition of the packaging?
The design of the app and website is awesome! Do you build everything inhouse?

Does it also highlight vegan products or suggests vegan alternatives?
