I didn't set out to build Charted Data. I just wanted to write one blog post with an interactive chart.
Sounds simple, right? It wasn't.
I tried Medium. Substack. WordPress. Ghost. Notion. Every platform either:
- Looked terrible
- Loaded slowly
- Didn't support charts
- Locked me into a monthly subscription
- Frustrated, I did what developers do: I built it myself.
The first version took 2 weeks. It was ugly. But it worked.
I showed it to a friend. They loved it. Then another friend asked if they could use it.
That's when I realized: this problem isn't unique to me.
So I spent the last 200 days perfecting it—polishing the design, adding features, documenting everything. Now people use it to publish better content every day.
