I built ChargeDetector after discovering I was paying $847/year for subscriptions I'd completely forgotten about.
The moment: I was reviewing my credit card statement and spotted three charges I didn't recognize — Adobe CC ($59.99/mo) from a job I left 2 years ago, a streaming service I'd signed up for during a free trial, and a cloud storage plan I'd upgraded and forgotten.
The problem: Most of us have no idea how many subscriptions are quietly leaving our accounts. Banks don't warn you. Services don't remind you. And checking manually across 2+ years of emails is impossible.
The philosophy: I built this to be genuinely private — everything runs in your browser. No servers. No accounts. No data collection. You upload your Gmail export, it scans subject lines only, detects subscriptions, shows you the damage, and deletes everything. That's it.
Tech stack: Next.js + TypeScript, client-side Gmail API, IndexedDB for processing, zero backend.
