Chap not only makes tracking chores simple, it also helps you manage your household whether you live alone, with roommates, with significant others, or with family. It's minimalistic while including things like a point system, leaderboards, and more.
This project was birthed out of a need from one of our co-founders struggling to evenly split and keep track of chores with his wife. We could not find a good mobile app that could do what was needed, or they were too convoluted and buggy. Thus, we began on our journey to build Chap.
Lots of mistakes were made at first, but since it was our first venture together, that was bound to happen. It was not easy, and we've learned a LOT since we first started. The biggest mistake was probably when we had a viral Tiktok that brought in thousands of users - RIGHT when we had a bug where users couldn't even sign in. We rushed to fix it in a few hours, but it was terrifying at the time.
Since then, we've put in hundreds (probably thousands) of hours of work, given up a few times, had arguments - and most recently, hit a revenue goal that we thought was impossible when we started! The first sale we made felt like winning the lottery, and it's sometimes hard to remember that as we hit new and new goals. (The app is freemium with plenty of great free features btw - much more than competitors. Yes, we checked ;) )
If anyone has any questions at all, we're happy to answer anything about the process!
Congratulations on the journey and achievements with Chap! It's inspiring to see how far you've come, despite the challenges. One piece of feedback would be to consider adding a feature for customizable reminders and notifications. This could help users stay on top of their chores more effectively and ensure that tasks are completed on time. Keep up the great work!
Love how Chap simplifies chore tracking and makes managing household tasks fun with a point system and leaderboards. Kudos on the launch, Paul!
I'm interested in Chap's points system and leaderboard feature, can you explain in detail how users earn points and how the leaderboard works? And are there any benefits to getting a top ranking?
Hi Paul, Chap sounds like a great solution for managing household chores. How does the point system and leaderboard work to motivate users? Are there any plans to integrate with smart home devices for automated tracking?

Chap was hunted by Paul Kim. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
