Chalk.city is a map of the world cut into 100-meter blocks. Walk onto one, claim it, and you get 10 minutes to draw whatever you want. After an hour, someone else can draw over it. It's live now in NYC, SF, Seattle, Chicago, and LA. Please let me know if anything breaks and what cities I should expand to next!
The most I've ever walked in my life was during the Pokémon Go craze in 2016. I wanted to recreate that constant urge I had to get off my couch and explore my neighborhood.
The other half of the idea came from r/place. Watching communities fight over a shared canvas and creating beautiful artwork was so so entertaining.
chalk.city is the child of both of these. Similar to the chalk drawings we used to do as kids on a sidewalk, nothing is permanent, but everything is meaningful. So excited to see how the canvas of your cities comes to life!

Who hunted Chalk.City?
Chalk.City was hunted by Kevin Wang. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
