CatchScroll
Blockers lock apps. CatchScroll retrains your focus.
Most of the time, we reach for our phone because we feel bored, stressed or stuck, not because of a notification. Blockers lock the app, but the feeling stays, so we find another distraction. CatchScroll calms the urge to scroll and retrains your focus.
Hi everyone, I'm Yusif 👋
A while ago I realised my focus wasn't what it used to be. I'd sit down to work, and before long I'd find my phone in my hand without even realising I'd picked it up.
Like most people, I tried app blockers. They didn't really help. The apps were locked, but I still felt the same pull, and I'd end up on whatever wasn't blocked.
So I started looking into why I kept reaching for my phone in the first place. It usually happened right when a task got boring, hard or unclear. Scrolling was just an easy way out of that feeling for a few minutes.
That's why I built CatchScroll. Instead of blocking apps, it resolves the feeling behind the urge to scroll. When you notice yourself reaching for your phone, you pick how you feel, and a calm voice guides you through a 2-minute research-backed exercise. You can do every exercise sitting at your desk, in the office or in a library. Then you're back to work with a clearer head.
On top of that, CatchScroll gives you what you need for a good focus day:
• Daily focus targets, so you know what a good day looks like
• Background sounds like rain, brown noise and café
• An AI focus coach that sees your patterns (when you lose focus, what pulls you away, which exercises work best for you) and gives advice that fits you
It's a web app built for the laptop, ideal if you work or study on one. Just open it in your browser, with nothing to install. For Product Hunt: lifetime access for $19.99 instead of $39.99, until Sunday 25 October.
I'd really appreciate your honest feedback, especially if blockers never worked for you either. When work gets hard, what do you usually reach for?
