I’m launching **Catalpas Atelier Scribe**, a cross-platform Markdown typesetting app for authors, editors, and small publishers.
We built Scribe for a workflow we kept seeing in long-form writing: the manuscript starts clean in Markdown, but publishing often means moving through several disconnected tools for layout, ebook export, Word handoff, print PDF, CJK typography, references, and final checks.
Scribe tries to keep that work closer to the manuscript.

finally a tool that handles the export side properly instead of leaving you to fight with pandoc. the cmyk pdf export with icc profiles is honestly what sealed it for me, super useful for print.
Love that this handles CJK vertical typesetting properly, that's something most writing tools completely ignore. One thing that would make it a real lifesaver for me is a built-in manuscript compile progress indicator with a cancel button, since exporting a 400 page novel to print-ready PDF can take ages and it's hard to tell if it's frozen or actually working.
