I built this after seeing how care homes actually run day-to-day: care plans in binders, the rota in Excel, medication charts on paper, incidents in a logbook, invoices in another tool — and families phoning the front desk for updates. Staff spend hours duplicating records instead of caring for residents.

A few things I was stubborn about:
Records you can trust: medication and safeguarding entries can never be edited or deleted — corrections are new entries, and the audit log can't be cleared by anyone.
Privacy by default: all resident and staff personal data is encrypted at rest.
You own your data: self-hosted on your own server, not locked in someone else's cloud.

Finally tried the family portal and it actually feels like the care home is keeping me in the loop, not just ticking a box. The tamper-proof MAR register is the detail that sold me, it's the kind of audit trail inspectors love.
The tamper-proof MAR register is a really smart idea, and being self-hosted is a huge plus for data-sensitive homes. Surprised how much they fit into one system without it feeling clunky.
Tried it on a demo home and was surprised how the family portal actually pulls live from the same care record, not a copy someone forgot to update. The tamper-proof MAR register alone is worth switching for.
