Your camera roll keeps everything. Capsule keeps what matters for you and your loved ones. Add your voice to photos and videos to tell the stories behind them or bring them to life with AI. Turn a camping trip into a fun comic strip, create a custom song for your child's birthday or simply save grandpa’s life stories before it is too late. Keep the stories, jokes, and voices that make memories real. Not a photo dump. The best moments, preserved for you, or shared with loved ones.
Hi! I'm Jens, founder of Capsule. We launched Capsule to the world last summer, but the story behind building this goes back a few years. My mom was diagnosed with cancer, and it hit me hard: there's so much about her life I don't really know. How do I capture her stories, her voice, her perspective for my siblings and her grandkids? How do we make sure that doesn't get lost? Fortunately, she survived. But that question never left me. And that's what became Capsule. The core insight is simple: People want to preserve memories (their own, for their kids, parents, pets, loved ones). But they need help doing it without it becoming a chore. Most of us end up with thousands of photos on our phone that we never look at again. So we rebuilt Capsule from the ground up to solve that. The heart of it is still the same: instead of just a photo or video, you add your voice. Later, you don't just see the moment, you remember what was happening. The funny story from that weekend away. Your best friends singing happy birthday. Your parents recording a message for their grandkids that unlocks in 10 years. Or capturing life lessons from older generations while you still can. What's new, we added a bunch of AI filters to enhance how you experience it without changing what actually happened. *turning a moment into a moving newspaper (remember those moving newspaper images in Harry Potter?) *turning a few pics into a comic—that But the biggest change is this: we built features specifically to solve the curation problem. It's not that people don't want to save them, but by habit, most people share their photos on messaging apps: 1. Forward from WhatsApp: you see something worth keeping in a chat, forward it directly to Capsule 2. Capsule suggestions: We notice when you were traveling in the past, celebrations and events and suggest a Capsule with sample photos/videos from that trip. Review, add/delete, save. Done in under a minute. 3. Easy sharing: Share a Capsule with loved ones. Now they can upload photos too which is perfect for weddings, birthdays, family gatherings (or view if you don't want them to add content).
We rebuilt the onboarding so you can try Capsule before logging in, and simplified everything so saving a memory actually feels effortless. Here's what I'm genuinely curious about: Do you actually look at the AI-curated memories Apple or Google suggests (do you save them)? Or does something feel different about Capsule: the voice overlays, the sharing, the intentional curation? I would love for you to try it and tell us what you think. Your feedback will directly shape where we go next. ONLY FOR THE PRODUCTHUNT COMMUNITY: 1 MONTH OF PREMIUM FOR FREE (SEE BELOW FOR DETAILS)
Love this app. The real value here is peace of mind. Already got my family using it to capture my nans stories & memories. Thanks for making this
Capsule really resonated with me. My cousin recently visited my grandmother in India and recorded a video of her sharing advice and life lessons for me and my siblings. Watching it was incredibly emotional. Hearing her voice, seeing her expressions, and knowing that we'll always have that moment preserved genuinely pulled at my heartstrings.
What I love about Capsule is that it focuses on preserving the stories and voices behind our memories, not just the photos themselves. Moments like hearing a grandparent's wisdom, jokes, or life experiences become so much more valuable as time passes. This feels like a meaningful way to keep those memories alive and share them with future generations.
Beautiful concept and a product that reminds us what really matters.
@jens_thena Go go go - amazing product! Loved it from the start and we keep on gathering moments and messages for our two boys ❤️
Been following Capsule since the beta last year and watched them completely redesign based on user feedback.
I have been testing it, and the latest AI features have completely transformed the experience, makes memory curation actually easy instead of a chore.
The core idea is elegant: add your voice to photos so you remember why the moment mattered.
The use case is huge. Not just for families and grandparents, but anyone wanting to capture what actually matters.
Whether it's holiday stories, journaling, celebrations, preserving life lessons.... Adding voice to your photos is genuinely a cool way to remember the moment.
Worth checking out!
Where do those voice notes live, like are they stored locally, in iCloud, or on your servers?
It's such a great app to store videos and pictures for our children. A great gift to open at a special birthday;-)
Me and my family really love the app. Great for party's and short trips with friends!
This made me cry on my 40th when all my friends and family left video messages for me from USA to Asia. It’s now all saved and captured in a capsule and I’ve added photos and videos to keep those moments with me and look back at them years to come. I’m most excited about the features that will unlock for my kids in the future especially when the grandparents or us may have already passed. This already gives me the chills now 🥹
This product is unique. I have set it up for my parents and it allows them to record video messages for my siblings and their grandchildren that can be eventually unlocked and seen 15 years down the road
Awesome product! Using it to capture special moments with the family to preserve with important context as a gift for when the kids get older. Such a gem!

Who hunted Capsule?
Capsule was hunted by Jens Thenakara. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
