I built this after nearly deploying a model whose metadata said "apache-2.0" but whose actual LICENSE file said non-commercial. The tag lied. The file didn't.
This is a systemic problem. A study of 232,270 AI supply chains found that 96.9% of datasets and 96.4% of models are missing the required LICENSE file. Only 2.6% satisfy both license text and copyright requirements. For anyone deploying AI in production, that's a €35M EU AI Act exposure waiting to happen.
