I’m Poyraz, the creator of call-latest.
As developers, we’ve all dealt with that frustrating search box bug: a user types quickly, multiple network requests fire in parallel, and a slower, stale response arrives late, overwriting the fresh UI data. Writing manual AbortControllers and endless boilerplate cleanups for every single feature felt like a massive waste of time.
That's why I built call-latest — a zero-dependency, ~2.5KB utility designed to handle this seamlessly.
With the new createSmartSearch engine, it scales from simple inputs to enterprise production architectures. It intelligently handles adaptive debounce based on network performance, backtrack LRU caching with SWR, and can even dispatch signals to abort heavy database queries directly at the Cloudflare Worker/Edge level mid-flight.
The project is fully open-source and TypeScript-first. I’d absolutely love to hear your thoughts, feedback on the architecture, or any feature requests you might have.
