What inspired us to build CalCat? As fitness enthusiasts, we always found tracking nutrition to be a massive chore. Weighing every single ingredient, searching through database items, and manually logging chicken breast, rice, and veggies one by one felt like a second workout. During intense training and a busy lifestyle, diet tracking shouldn't be a source of stress. We wanted to make the process completely seamless and even a bit joyful.
The Problem We’re Solving Most calorie counters require tedious manual entry, leading to fatigue and consistency drops. CalCat completely removes this friction. With just a single photo of your entire plate, our smart AI recognizes multiple food items simultaneously, calculating precise calories and macro ratios (carbs, protein, fat) in seconds. Plus, we added an AI cat companion and a gamified streak system to keep you motivated during tough cutting or bulking phases.
How we evolved We initially focused just on standard calorie tracking, but as we refined the AI, we realized how critical accurate portions are for athletes. That's why we added features like "One-Tap Serving Size Adjustment" (to easily log if you ate all, half, or a third) and personalized macro reports designed for cutting or carb-loading trends.
