I'm a solo developer from Japan. I built CakeLog because my own camera roll had six years of my son's birthday cake photos, completely unsorted — I could never tell at a glance which cake belonged to which birthday.
So I made the album sort itself. Take a photo of this year's cake, and CakeLog automatically knows which "age album" it belongs to, based on the person's birthday. No folders, no manual tagging.
A few things I put real work into:
- 12 photo frames, all hand-coded as vector art instead of stock images — a heart-shaped cutout, a full-photo candlelight overlay, a polaroid border. Each one lays out the photo differently.
- A Memory Timeline that threads birthdays, anniversaries, and memorial dates into one scrollable life story per person.
- Everything stored locally. PIN + Face ID lock, no account, no analytics, no tracking.
- 5 languages built in: Japanese, English, Korean, Chinese, French.
