macOS has `caffeinate` in the terminal for exactly this. I wanted it as one click in the browser. Click once, pick how long (30m / 1h / 2h / 4h / forever), and the toolbar badge counts down.
The detail I care about most: it uses the chrome.power API, not wakeLock. wakeLock dies the moment the tab loses focus — exactly when you need it alive. Timers run on chrome.alarms so they survive the service worker going idle, and state comes back after a browser restart.
