bytemail is a native Mac email app built in Swift. Gmail, iCloud, Outlook, Yahoo, Fastmail and any IMAP account in one fast window. New mail and sign-in codes grow out of your MacBook's notch, Undo Send flies a paper plane through it, and desktop widgets show what's unread. Tracking pixels are blocked, look-alike senders flagged, and your mail never touches our servers. Snooze, rules, one-click unsubscribe, and an MCP server for Claude and other AI apps. iPhone beta included. 7-day free trial.

Hey Product Hunt 👋 I'm Sergey, the maker of bytemail.

I spend most of my day in email, and every Mac client I tried was either an Electron wrapper, routed my mail through someone else's servers, or felt stuck in 2012. So I built the one I wanted: a truly native Mac app, written in Swift, that talks straight to your provider.

What you get:
• Every inbox in one window: Gmail, iCloud, Outlook/Microsoft 365, Yahoo, Fastmail (JMAP) and any IMAP server
• Mail in your notch and on your desktop: new mail and sign-in codes grow out of your MacBook's notch, Undo Send flies a paper plane through it, eyes peek out when your email is read, and Unread, Inbox and Accounts widgets keep your mail on the desktop
• Private by default: tracking pixels blocked, tracking codes stripped from links, look-alike senders flagged. Your mail never touches our servers, and there's no bytemail account
• Inbox tools: snooze, send later, Undo Send, "remind me if no reply", rules, one-click unsubscribe, To Reply, notification senders like GitHub or Jira gathered into one row, multiple signatures, spell check
• Read it your way: chat-style or classic threads per account, resizable panes, Markdown in the composer
• On-device Apple Intelligence: summaries, reply ideas and Rewrite on macOS 26
• One MCP for every inbox: Claude, Codex and other AI apps can search, draft and tidy your mail through bytemail, and sending always waits for your OK

There's a 7-day free trial, monthly or yearly plans, and a lifetime licence. An iPhone app is in public beta on TestFlight too.

I'd love your honest feedback — what would make bytemail your daily email app? I'll be here all day answering questions.

Comment highlights

The notch details are the part I keep thinking about — sign-in codes growing out of the notch, and Undo Send flying a paper plane through it, are small native touches that make the Mac client feel like it belongs on the Mac. I also appreciate the restraint around the MCP server: letting an AI app search, draft, and tidy mail, while sending always waits for my OK, is the right boundary. And keeping chat-style versus classic threads per account, rather than forcing one view on every inbox, matches how differently Gmail and IMAP threads actually read.

Sign-in codes growing out of the notch is a clever touch. What happens when I'm screen sharing on a call, do the codes still pop up there? That's the one moment I'd worry about.

Email in the notch is a fun idea!! How does it handle a busy inbox without the notch getting cluttered?

the sign-in codes growing out of the notch is a fun detail. do you see people mostly using the MCP server for triage or for drafting replies?

How hard can it be to make a good email app?! Yet, I've been struggling to find the perfect one. Trying out Bytemail now 🙌

Mail growing out of the notch with sign in codes is a tiny idea that fixes a real annoyance, because those codes are the one thing I always leave a browser tab open for.

I did not expect a mailer app could be beautiful. Opening the app feels like opening a feed on a social network. The amount of extra features is huge. Feels like it is built by an engineer for engineers, but the same time with a good UI/UX taste!

Great app - consistent updates, the author is open to suggestions. Support is great, recommended!

I recently made ByteMail my daily email client. I've tried all the other recommendations for macOS (Spark, Airmail etc.) and I stuck with Canary the longest, because it didn't try to force you to "do email" a certain way, with its own AI triaging... then that team launched a new client, Dove, that did exactly that.

My needs feel, to me, fairly simple, but no client has had them all: native UI, snappy interface, multi-provider compatibility (Gmail and IMAP in my case), a way to interact with it using my own AI tools rather than in-app tokens with a margin on top, and no strong opinions about how you should handle your email. ByteMail seems to fit the bill.

It still has a few rough edges (interacting with Gmail drafts causes the whole client to chug to a halt, for some reason) but it does everything I need without getting in your face. The only "opinionated" part is that it defaults to a "chat" style view that I personally dislike, but you can turn that off per-account with a single click.

Sergey is also a very responsive developer. I flagged up the inability to view threads newest > oldest, and that was fast-tracked up the roadmap into the next release.
