Send private notes that automatically delete after reading. End-to-end AES-256 encryption in your browser. Zero-knowledge architecture means we can't read your messages. Free, open source, no tracking.
This is a re-launch of burner note with an even nicer aesthetic, revamped encryption, more customizable settings but the same zero knowledge, ad-free, open source experience.
FEATURE UPDATE
I've just rolled out "Burn Box" - create a public link that lets anyone send you a zero knowledge self destructing note.
Clean execution on a sensitive problem. The combination of open source transparency, zero ads, and one time read deletion builds immediate trust. The cryptographic choices also signal a serious security mindset. From a technical standpoint, how do you handle key generation and storage to ensure true end to end secrecy, and what safeguards exist against replay or partial read attacks?
Love the zero-knowledge approach with AES-256 encryption! This is exactly what privacy-conscious users need. I'm curious about the architecture - is any AI/LLM involved in the encryption process, or is it purely cryptographic? Also wondering if you plan to add AI-powered features in the future, like smart note categorization using on-device models to maintain zero-knowledge? 🔐
Congrats on the launch!
Curious how you thought about the UX trade-offs around self-destructing notes vs longer-lived context. Balancing privacy and usability is never trivial.
The new 'Burn Box' feature is a game changer! It’s one thing to send a secure note, but having a public link where others can safely send me info without needing an account is super useful. Is there a limit to how many Burn Boxes one can create?
Free, ad-free, and open source is the holy trinity, but it also makes me worry about longevity.
@mickc79 This is a really good idea, but it cannot prevent screenshots. I suggest the developer refine it further.
The zero-knowledge architecture with AES-256 is reassuring for sharing sensitive data. I'm curious about the new Burn Box feature—does it support rate limiting or CAPTCHA to prevent abuse when the link is public? For teams sharing credentials or API keys temporarily, that could be a helpful safeguard.
Wow, Burner Note is seriously cool! Love that its open source and zero-knowledge. How do you handle preventing multiple read attempts from different devices for the same note?
Zero-knowledge with open source is the right combo. How do you handle the trade-off between ease of use and making sure users actually understand their notes auto-delete?

**AN UPDATE BASED ON FEEDBACK FROM THE ACTIVITY AND ENGAGEMENT TODAY**
A lot of people have signed up for an account but not created a “team”. This is leaving those folk in a strange middle ground.
So I’m about to role out an update where you can formally choose to be an “individual”. Functionally this won’t make much difference but it will just make the platform a little clearer with regards to how security policies work.
Eg for “teams” it’s “security policy” but for an “individual” the same thing will be called “defaults”.
Down the line there may be other ways in which it makes sense to separate individuals and teams.
And let me reiterate that the platform is absolutely free to use as much as you like without creating any kind of account.
Loved it. More than ever I'm appreciating my privacy and it can help a lot on that cause many times we don't need to save data and other we don't want even. So, glad to see you helping on this! All the best here
Congrats on the relaunch — love the clean UX + zero-knowledge approach. Quick Q: do you support “expire after X minutes” (even if unopened) and a passphrase + view limit for extra safety?
A quick comment to thank everyone who has upvoted so far. I didn’t really do much prep for this product hunt launch and I have zero audience.
It’s absolutely lovely that Burner Note is doing well on here.
Thank you so so much!
love the new design! any plans for file or attachment support in the future?
