Browser Takeover is a local-first bridge for AI agents that works with already-open, authenticated Chrome and Edge tabs. Keep your real sessions instead of logging in again. Pause automation instantly, restrict control to trusted sites, verify actions with observable evidence, and handle real-world pages with Shadow DOM, iframes, uploads, downloads, native input, and full-page screenshots. Open source and installable as a Codex Marketplace plugin.
I built Browser Takeover because browser agents often start in a clean profile, which means repeated logins and lost context. I wanted an agent to work in the browser session people already trust, while keeping control visible and local. The result is an open-source Codex/MCP plugin plus a Chrome and Edge extension, with a localhost-only bridge, pause controls, trusted-site restrictions, tab leases, and verified actions. I would love feedback on installation, browser compatibility, and the workflows you want supported next.
