Hey Product Hunt! I'm Jim, and I built Brew & Byte because I couldn't find the tool I needed. I've been homebrewing for years, and I also have a background in chemistry. That combination made one thing really clear to me: brewing is an experiment. You start with a batch, you observe what happens, you adjust, and you learn. But every brewing tool I tried forced me to start with a recipe, which never matched how real fermentation actually works. On top of that, most software was beer-only, clunky, or missing the one thing you desperately need when something goes wrong at 2am during an active fermentation. Someone to help you figure out why. So I built it myself. Brew & Byte started as a personal project and grew into a full platform. It now includes AI troubleshooting, batch tracking, recipe creation, 55+ calculators, and hardware integrations. All built by one person, nights and weekends, because I genuinely believe homebrewers deserve better tools. The part I'm most proud of is the batch-first approach. Every other brewing tool makes you start with a recipe. But brewing isn't a recipe-first craft. It's iterative. You brew, you observe, you refine, and eventually you dial it in. Brew & Byte is built around that reality. If you homebrew beer, mead, cider, wine, kombucha, or ginger beer, I'd love for you to try it. Thirty days free, no credit card required. Happy to answer questions below. This community means a lot to indie makers like me.

If you homebrew, what's the one thing your current setup is missing? A lot of Brew & Byte's features came from exactly that kind of frustration. Something annoyed me, so I built the fix.

I'm also curious if anyone here is brewing something other than beer. Mead, cider, wine, kombucha, ginger beer? The six-beverage support was a deliberate choice, and I'd love to know if it resonates with people who brew outside the beer world.

Happy to talk fermentation science, the batch-first philosophy, or anything else you're curious about. Ask me anything.
