Hey Product Hunt 👋
I’m Xavier, a product designer from Sydney, and Braid started as something personal: I wanted to keep my grandma’s stories. I realised the photos on my phone held the moments, but not the why behind them. And when I asked family about the same photo, everyone remembered it a little differently.
So Braid lets you pick a photo, tell the story behind it by voice or text, then share it so family and friends can add their side. They don’t need to download anything, just open a link. One memory, several perspectives.
I’m not a developer by background. I designed Braid and built it natively in SwiftUI with Claude as my build partner, which has been a fun experiment in itself.
On privacy: Braid reads your photo library on-device to group photos by date and location. Nothing is uploaded by default. Your memories (tags, text and audio) stay on your phone unless you sign in, which saves them to our server so you can access them across devices. Sharing doesn’t need an account: when you share a memory, only that memory and its photos (up to 12) are uploaded so family can open the link and add their side.
