I built BoltShare after running into the same frustration over and over: sharing large files should be simple, but it rarely is. Most services impose file size limits, require creating an account, slow down transfers, or force you to upload everything to the cloud before anyone can download it.
While experimenting with different approaches, I started with browser-based peer-to-peer transfers. They sounded perfect in theory, but real-world performance exposed browser limitations that made them less reliable for large files. That challenge pushed me to rethink the architecture from the ground up and build something that prioritizes speed, simplicity, and reliability instead of just following the usual approach.
The result is BoltShare -> a file-sharing experience that gets out of your way. Just drag, drop, and share.
