Hey Product Hunters 😸, Long time no see. I'm Goksu, the founder of Blurs, and I’m excited to introduce you to a tool that protects your browser privacy. 🤔 What is Blurs? You know how a remote meeting with your team or a client goes, especially when you have to share your screen. Do I have any tabs with sensitive information? Maybe I didn't close THAT page. What if the client sees this or that information? If you are a streamer/content creator, you face similar challenges as well. Let's say you are shooting a nice YouTube video; but you will have to blur or filter out some sensitive information. Usually you'd deal with that during post-production, which is such a waste of time. Well, nevermore 🐦‍⬛. Blurs is a browser extension that protects your browser privacy while screen sharing, streaming, or browsing, with different filtering options and modes. It works on Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and any Chromium-based browser of your choice, Microsoft Edge approval still pending though 😅 You can select any element on a page, and apply one of three different filtering options – Blur, Solid Box, or Pixelation – or just draw a fixed position filter on your page as you wish. The world is your canvas after all. For those who might need stronger browsing privacy, Blurs comes with a Safe Mode feature. Turning on Safe Mode adds a high density blur filter on all tabs, and you can disable Safe Mode for any page easily. 👨‍💻 Who could benefit from Blurs? In my opinion, there are at least five user groups that could get huge benefits from Blurs, and I am kinda confident you are in at least one. 1. Professionals in virtual meetings: Blurs can help you prevent accidental information leaks. 2. Content creators and streamers: By filtering out unwanted elements, Blurs can minimize the time spent on editing or obscuring sensitive information during post-production. 3. Remote workers handling sensitive information: For remote employees or freelancers dealing with sensitive information, Blurs can help keep work data private during video calls or presentations. 4. Educators and trainers: Educators sharing learning materials, or educational resources on-screen can use Blurs to filter out non-relevant information, protect personal information, and provide a cleaner, distraction-free presentation for students. 5. Privacy-concerned individuals: Anyone concerned with protecting their browsing privacy can use Blurs to keep their personal details to themselves. 🤓 What benefits does Blurs bring to you? 1. Enhanced privacy: Protect yourself from sharing private or sensitive data during screen sharing and streaming sessions. 2. Save time on post-production: Reduce the need for post-production editing for screen recording and taking screenshots. 3. Complete control over your browser: Gain fine-tuned control over what parts of your browser to blur or filter. 4. Better screen sharing experience: Remove the risk of sharing personal, business, or sensitive information during meetings. 😻 What features does Blurs have? 1. Custom filter types: Filters like pixelation, blurs, or solid boxes for customized and enhanced privacy. 2. Sticky filters: With filters that stick to the screen, you can spend more time on your work and less on hiding your screen. 3. Safe mode for your browser: Enabling safe mode blurs all tabs for maximum privacy. 4. Filter once, use always: Re-use your saved blurs and filters automatically. 💲 Pricing As Blurs is a browser extension that runs solely on your browser, I think that it is only fair to have a “pay once, use forever” pricing model. Having a subscription model makes zero sense for Blurs, after all. I already implemented a 50% discount for the first 20 users, reducing Blurs’ price from $99.99 + VAT to $49.99 + VAT; but to celebrate Blurs’ ProductHunt launch, I am adding another discount of 20% on top of that. 🎁 Use promo code PH20 to get a 20% discount This promo code brings Blurs’ price from $99.99 + VAT to $39.99 + VAT; though note that it will be valid only for one week. With this, Blurs is officially launched on ProductHunt 🥳. Party time! 🙏 Thank you Many thanks for supporting Blurs. I couldn’t appreciate it enough. I will be around all day, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Additionally, I’d be delighted to hear about your thoughts, feedback – basically anything on Blurs, your browsing habits and browsing privacy. If you’d like to get in direct touch, you can also send an email to [email protected], or get in touch with me on X. Hopefully, you will find Blurs useful and love using it ❤️. Until the next launch, so long and thanks for all the fish. - Goksu

This product sounds interesting and useful for maintaining privacy while browsing. Can you share more about the security measures in place?

I just have a question, Will Safe Mode impact my browser speed at all? @goksudayan

It’s nice knowing I can control exactly what shows on screen, especially when sharing personal info. @goksudayan

I think the option to re use filters is so smart. I hate setting up the same thing every time, so this is a big win for me. @goksudayan

Sometimes I have unrelated tabs open that are distracting for my students, so this will keep the focus where it needs to be. @goksudayan

As someone who does a lot of training presentations, this tool could be really helpful. @goksudayan

It would be neat to have a bit more flexibility with the areas I want to hide. @goksudayan

Sometimes I switch between Chrome and Firefox, so it’s great to know it’ll work with both. @goksudayan

This sounds like exactly what I need for work meetings. I’m always worried about people seeing my tabs and other open windows. @goksudayan

Wow—I've been waiting for a tool that does blurring well—and Blurs delivers! I really like that even on page reloads, the filtered elements remain filtered—it's so good. Instant purchase for me—well done, and thanks for the discount!

Congrats on the launch! This looks like a game-changer for protecting our online privacy. How does it work with different browsers?

Looks pretty awesome! Takes too many clicks to do certain tasks. I'd advice to reduce friction on later updates. Other than that, great job 👏

This is such a thoughtful solution, @goksudayan ! Blurs really tackles privacy concerns in screen sharing and streaming, and the Safe Mode with customizable filters is a great touch. Congrats on the launch! 🎉
