What inspired you to build this?
My best friend was pregnant and felt overwhelmed by existing apps β either they were cluttered with ads, forced her to create an account, or shared her data. She just wanted something calm, beautiful, and private. That stuck with me. I wanted to create a pregnancy companion that feels like a gentle hug rather than a medical tool, with soft colors, smooth animations, and zero personal data collection.
What problem are you trying to solve?
Most pregnancy apps are either too clinical, full of trackers you never use, or they monetize by selling your data. Pregnant women are in a vulnerable, emotional state β they deserve a safe, private space. BloomMama AI keeps everything on-device: your due date, kick sessions, mood logs, appointments. No sign-up, no database, no tracking. Just you and your journey. The app even requires internet only to ensure you're always on the latest version, but nothing you input ever leaves your phone.
How did your approach or process evolve while working on this launch?
I started with a single HTML file as a personal challenge β could I build something genuinely useful with just vanilla HTML, CSS, and JavaScript? That constraint shaped everything: it forced simplicity, fast loading, and a focus on core features that truly matter. As I tested it with expecting moms, they asked for the kick counter, the checklist, and the daily bloom tip β so those became priorities. The launch evolved from a side project into something I now hope can genuinely support thousands of mothers worldwide. Every design choice, from the rose-gold gradients to the animated baby size cards, was guided by a single question: "Will this make a mama smile?"
Love the no-login privacy angle and the feminine design feels really thoughtful, not just an afterthought. One thing that would make this even better for me personally is a built-in contraction timer that syncs with the kick counter history, so all the fetal movement and labor prep tracking lives in one calm place instead of bouncing between apps.
honestly this looks really lovely and the no login thing is a big win. one idea though, could you add an offline mode for the kick counter and symptom log? like basic tracking that works without internet would be perfect for appointments or hospital visits where signal is spotty.
the no login thing is such a relief, knowing my pregnancy notes stay on my phone and not floating around some random database. also the kick counter saving each session is sweet, my ob loves seeing the actual log instead of me guessing.
The no-login, on-device privacy approach for something as personal as pregnancy data is a really thoughtful call. Love that the bloom tip and kick counter history sit right there on the dashboard instead of buried in menus.
