My Mac kept telling me the disk was almost full, but never what was actually filling it. So I'd start deleting things at random and hope I didn't break anything. It always felt like guessing in the dark.
Part of the problem is that I build a ton of apps. Most never see the light of day, but they still leave gigabytes of build junk behind. Add my random video downloads, screenshots, images, and half-forgotten documents on top of that, and my disk fills up fast.
