Hi Product Hunt, we're the small team behind Big Friendly AI: a writer, an illustrator's worth of prompts, few engineers and a lot of parents who tested it on their kids. It started with a book. We wrote The Big Friendly Book of Deep Learning because every "AI for kids" thing we found taught children to USE AI tools, and none of them explained how a machine actually learns. Kids are far more capable of understanding that than we give them credit for. They just need the ideas in the right order, with pictures, and without a single equation in the way. So the book became a course. Every lesson is a fifteen-minute comic-panel video that follows the chapter beat for beat, starring Bit (an eleven-year-old who keeps asking "OK but WHY though?"), Byte (a 1980s robot who believes in rules until they fail him) and Goldie (a goldfish who has already forgotten). After the video a learner reads the chapter in a page-turning flipbook, prints a worksheet, and writes an answer to a real question in their own words. A tutor replies to their reasoning, never with a score, because we wanted a course that rewards thinking, not right answers. What's live today: all 32 lessons of Act 1, the flipbook, worksheets, quizzes and the tutor. Acts 2 to 8 (there are 291 lessons planned in total) are in production and we plan to release new ones roughly every week. They are all included in one purchase, forever. The whole thing is meant for ages 8 to grandpa. Parents keep telling us they learned it alongside their kids, so we stopped putting an upper age on it. The first three lessons are free, no card needed. We'd love to hear what your child, or you, asked after watching them.
