Maker here 👋 I’ve been a tester in plenty of hardware beta programs, think robot mowers, vacuums, irrigation systems and general consumer devices. In that world, one small detail can make or break a useful bug report. It can also be inefficient, time-consuming and frustrating when engineers need more evidence before they can act on what you’re reporting. Testing is a side hustle for me, so I don’t have time to keep going backwards and forwards on a single issue. That’s how BetaSuite was born. The testing itself was never the hardest part. The hard part was turning what I saw into something an engineer could actually act on. Finding the right clip. Matching it to the exact moment something failed. Remembering whether I had already mentioned it in an earlier email. Then packaging everything into a clear report instead of a messy pile of notes. So I built BetaSuite — a toolkit for people testing physical products, prototypes and connected devices who need to capture evidence quickly and turn it into useful reports. A few decisions were deliberate: - Timestamps are mandatory and second-accurate. If you’re lining up a fault with a device log or specific test run, “sometime this afternoon” isn’t good enough. - No account required. There is no default BetaSuite cloud and nothing phones home by default. Captures and reports stay on your device unless you choose otherwise. - Cloud sync and AI are opt-in. You choose when and where they’re used. - Confidential Mode is built for NDA hardware. Cloud sync, sharing and cloud AI are hard-blocked. Only on-device AI remains available. - One-time purchase. No subscription. It’s a testing toolkit, not another monthly tax. - Free Protocol Builder for beta programmers. Create a structured testing checklist that testers can access with a simple shareable code. There's no additional app or account required. BetaSuite is available on iOS and Android, with the same experience on both platforms. It isn’t an iPhone app with an Android version bolted on afterwards. I’m a solo developer and I’m reading every reply. If you beta test hardware, what’s the most annoying part of writing up a report today? That’s what I want to fix next.
