Belay keeps your Mac awake while local coding agents are working, then lets it sleep when they're done. No timers to start, no caffeine switch to remember, and no account or telemetry.
I built Belay because I kept leaving long coding-agent runs on my Mac and coming back to find the machine asleep and the work stopped.
The usual keep-awake tools solve that with another switch or timer. I wanted the Mac to stay awake because work is actually happening, then go back to normal when it stops.
So Belay watches local agent activity, keeps the Mac awake while a run is going, and lets go when it is done.
It is a small native Mac app, free to use, with no account, analytics or telemetry.
I’ve been using it with Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and other local tools, and a few of the recent features already came directly from GitHub issues.
Would love to hear where it works well, and especially where it gets the state wrong.
