Bedjo is a sleek, ad-free web app designed for baking enthusiasts. It helps you visually manage your favorite recipes, automatically scale ingredients based on dough size, and track your baking journey with a beautiful, game-like prep check flow. Built with a premium UI and dark mode support.
I actually have three side projects in my portfolio that were inspired by girls I liked.
The first was a long-distance relationship app I built while dating a girl in Bangkok. We broke up. The project ended up in the graveyard.
The second was an AI movie generator. I planned to build it with a girl from high school who used to have a crush on me and is now a film major. But as we chatted, she became increasingly distant and cold. Combined with the insane API costs of AI video generation, that project died too.
Then came Bedjo. It was inspired by a girl I met on Tinder who lives 2,000 kilometers away in the Philippines and loves baking. Subconsciously, I absorbed some harsh lessons from my past failures for this third project.
Technically, I learned to build a WebApp to bypass app store fees and friction, and to use cost-effective multimodal AI to keep the project alive.
But emotionally, I learned something much harder: how to decouple my passion for coding from my feelings for the person. I realized I had to race against the clock—I had to finish building and shipping this app before her interest inevitably faded and my disappointment kicked in.
The ultimate lesson these three projects taught me is this: You have to learn to push all your commits to production before the dopamine and hormones burn out. Btw, I can already feel this current crush growing cold and distant. Sigh. Looks like it didn't work out this time either.
But hey, at least this time... I didn't abandon the code. I actually shipped it.
I built this for her, but now I’m sharing it with anyone who loves baking, and anyone who has ever coded through a heartbreak. I hope you guys like it.
