BeanRitual
AI assistant that helps you dial in your best espresso shot
Every bag of coffee needs its own settings, and a month later you've forgotten them. BeanRitual remembers. Photograph the bag and the app reads the label. Note each espresso: dose, grind, time, yield, and good or not yet. Star the one that worked, and it's waiting on that bag's page next time. Free, no account. In beta on iPhone: join at coffee.saylib.com and I'll send you an invitation.
I make espresso at home, and every new bag of beans costs me two or three bad shots before a good one. A month later I buy the same coffee again and I've forgotten the settings. Notes on my phone and apps with too many fields never stuck.
So I built BeanRitual. You photograph the bag and the app reads the label. You note each espresso you make: dose, grind, time, yield, and good or not yet. Then you star the one that worked, and next time it's waiting on that bag's page, with the machine and grinder you used.
It's free, there's no account, and your coffees and notes stay on your iPhone. The photo of the bag goes to our server to read the label, and our server doesn't keep it. Three anonymous counts (app opened, shot saved, coffee reopened) tell me whether anyone comes back.
It's the first of 6 products I'm building in 60 days, so it's young. Right now it's a beta for iPhone: leave your email at coffee.saylib.com and I'll send you an invitation to try it with TestFlight, Apple's beta app. The App Store release comes after. The label reading sometimes gets things wrong, which is why every field can be edited. I'd love to know which bags fool it.
Two questions for you: how do you keep track of your espresso settings today? And what would make you open an app like this a second time?
this is such a simple but real pain 😭 the “forgot the settings for this bag” problem is way too relatable. love that you’re keeping it focused instead of turning it into another overbuilt coffee app. congrats dounia ☕️
My expressos will not be a coin flip any more! Congratulations on your launch, coffee friend! ☕️
Congrats on your launch @dounia_boughalem !! What made you decide to build this as the first of your 6 products?
