BeaconChess
A chess coach that suggests moves and explains why they work
Play human-like opponents from ~1100 to ~2000. Beacon suggests useful moves, explains why they work, and shows mistakes and missed tactics in plain English, right on the board. Your games stay on your device. Pay once for a personal license. No subscription.
Most chess tools can tell you the exact moment your game went wrong. The harder part is understanding what to do differently next time.
BeaconChess was built to close that gap.
Instead of stopping at:
“−2.3. Best was Nf3.”
It explains the idea in plain English:
“That knight walks into a fork.”
Then it lets you tap through the replies with arrows until the consequence is clear.
The goal is less staring at engine numbers and more recognizing the pattern when it appears in your next game.
After each game, Beacon surfaces the moments worth studying: missed tactics, hanging pieces, good decisions, and opportunities your opponent missed. You can also practice against opponents at different human-like levels.
The first coached game and three analyses are free, with no account or card required. Continued access is a one-time personal license, not a subscription.
I built this because the chess lessons that stayed with me were the ones I could actually see happen on the board.
If you try it, I’d love to know: did an explanation or visual line make an idea click for you?

Who hunted BeaconChess?
BeaconChess was hunted by Waqar Bin Kalim. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
