Hey Product Hunt 👋
I’m Marcus. I’m a military-aircraft nerd who spends far too many weekends in UK aviation museums, usually with my son Leo, who builds model kits with me.
Air Museums (airmuseums.co.uk) started as a hobby gazetteer: one place for every aviation museum in the UK, with opening hours, prices, parking and cafés, and what’s actually in each hangar. Today we’re launching v2, a full redesign that turns it from a directory into a magazine.
What’s new:
📰 A zine, not a database. It has a cover, an “In this issue” contents page and three sections: Museums, Aircraft and Articles. The issue number even follows the calendar.
✈️ The Hangar. 50-odd aircraft (Spitfire, Lancaster, Shackleton, Venom, Skeeter and more) built as 3D models you can spin around, each on its own plate with its history and where to see the real airframe.
🏛️ 118 museum pages. Each one shows its collection in profile, so you can see what’s in the hangar before you drive two hours to get there.
🗺️ Practical stuff. Free museums, best-of picks by region, an airshow calendar, fly-bys and an airframe finder.
The honest bit: this is openly AI-built. Claude does most of the writing, design and 3D modelling, and I act as the human editor who checks facts and says “no, the Spitfire’s cockpit is too big.” It’s been a fascinating experiment in how far one person with AI tools can take a niche passion project.
