AutoDoc
Open source AI meeting notes that never leave your computer
AutoDoc is a fully open-source AI meeting assistant that runs totally offline — no bot joins your call, and nothing ever leaves your computer. It records your screen, mic, and system audio, then uses local AI (Whisper + Ollama) to transcribe and summarize. Notes stay synced to the video, so when someone shares a slide deck or dashboard, you can jump straight to that moment instead of just reading that it happened. macOS available now, Windows coming soon.
I'm Greg — I lead engineering at Duet, and I'm here launching AutoDoc on behalf of our team who built it.
An issue that we have with the other AI meeting tools is that they send your meetings to someone else's servers. That's a hard trade-off for anything sensitive such as customer calls, internal strategy, anything you'd rather not hand to a third party by default.
AutoDoc doesn't join your call as a bot, and nothing ever leaves your computer. It records your screen, mic, and system audio, then runs Whisper for transcription and Ollama for summaries and everything is entirely locally.
Most note takers give you a transcript and stop there. AutoDoc keeps your notes synced to the video, so when someone shares a slide deck or a dashboard during a meeting, you can jump straight back to that moment instead of just reading that it happened.
It's fully open source and the code is on GitHub if you want to see exactly what's running on your machine. macOS is available today; Windows is next on our roadmap.

Chris here, the engineer behind AutoDoc. I’m really excited to finally share what we’ve been working on with the world.
We created AutoDoc because of a problem we felt was all too common: after a meeting, while the conversation was valuable, we’re left struggling to remember what was discussed, who owns what, and what’s truly important later in the week. That's where AutoDoc comes in. AutoDoc transforms those conversations into clear, actionable notes, eliminating the need to sift through a messy transcript and hopefully making your life a little easier!
We’re still early and have a lot more planned, but I care a lot about making this feel fast, private, and genuinely helpful in real workflows. Would love to hear what you think, what feels useful, and where it could be better. Thanks for checking us out!
Running it on my M2 Mac, the local transcription is impressively fast and I love clicking a slide in the notes to jump right to that timestamp in the recording. Wish the summary was a bit more concise, but the privacy angle alone makes me want to keep using it.

Who hunted AutoDoc?
AutoDoc was hunted by Greg Srabian. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
