I’m the creator of AtenKey, and I am super excited to share it with you all today! 🚀
As someone who spends 8+ hours a day working at my desk and is also a huge Home Assistant enthusiast, I constantly faced the same friction: every time I wanted to toggle my desk light, adjust the AC, or activate a focus/bedtime scene, I had to stop what I was doing. I had to reach for my phone, unlock it, open the app, or switch tabs on my browser.
It was a minor inconvenience, but it broke my focus and flow daily.
That’s why I built AtenKey. I wanted a tool that is: 1️⃣ Instant: Toggling smart devices with a simple global shortcut (like Ctrl+Shift+L) from anywhere on my PC. 2️⃣ Lightweight: Built with Tauri 2 and Rust, so it takes almost zero resources and sits quietly in the system tray. 3️⃣ Privacy-First: Securely saving Home Assistant tokens directly into the native OS Keychain—no cloud middleman, no tracking.
We have a generous Free tier which gives you up to 3 keyboard shortcuts and 1 HA connection (more than enough for daily essentials), and a Pro tier for unlimited shortcuts and multi-device management.
