I'm Alex, a solo developer, and I've spent the last 6 months building ASI Biont.
Honest story: I was terrified of publishing my code. Like many solo devs, I thought
"what if someone steals it?" That fear kept my project private for months — even though
I knew open-sourcing would help it grow.
The solution? AGPL v3 license + Open Core model. The core AI framework is fully open-source
(you can run it, modify it, fork it), but the commercial layer (payments, auth, Telegram bot,
admin panel) stays proprietary. It's the same model GitLab, n8n, and Mattermost use.
What's inside:
• 3 AI roles in every conversation: Strategist (plans approach), Companion (human-like tone),
Critic (quality check) — all orchestrated by a single DeepSeek call
• Plugin system with event bus — write your own adapters for any platform
• Vector memory (Pinecone) with encryption at rest
• Self-hosted — deploy on Railway, VPS, or your own server
• Token-based billing built-in (monetize your agents from day one)
Why AGPL v3? If you run a modified version as a service, you must share your changes.
This protects the project while keeping it truly open. Fair trade-off.
