ArDem
SSH client with terminal, files, and code editor in one
ArDem is an SSH client, file manager and code editor in one app. One SSH connection powers a terminal, a two-pane file manager, and a code editor — no re-authenticating, no juggling multiple programs.
Hey everyone! 👋
I built ArDem to solve a workflow problem I kept running into: working on a remote server usually means juggling separate tools for the terminal, file transfers, and editing code — each with its own window, its own login, its own context-switch.
ArDem puts all of that behind a single SSH connection. Open a new pane — terminal, file manager, editor, even a browser — and it just opens a new channel, no re-authenticating.
Some things I focused on:
- GPU-rendered terminal with tabs, split panes, and session recording
- Two-pane SFTP/FTP file manager with directory compare/sync and drag-and-drop from Explorer
- Editor with no local copy — it writes straight to the server and diffs against what's already there
- Security: credentials live in an AES-256-GCM encrypted vault, host keys are pinned, and every security event is written to a hash-chained audit log
Would love to hear what you think, and happy to answer any questions!
