Hunted byJosh DeLeenheerJosh DeLeenheer

Archyv is a native Mac app for photographers with thousands of files and no time to sort them. Batch rename from EXIF, convert RAW and HEIC, find duplicates, sort into dated folders, and write copyright and species metadata across an entire archive in one run — every change reversible. What's different: it runs entirely on your Mac. No cloud, no account, no AI model, nothing uploaded. Built for wildlife and nature photographers who want their images to stay theirs. One purchase, no subscription.

I am the Executive Director of a nonprofit collective of photographers. In our work we manage a large volume of photographs and videos, which use intentional naming conventions, file specifications, and require considerable time to manage. After working on a large batch of images I decided that there had to be a simpler way to use the metadata contained in the files to rename them, and so I created the first function that became the foundation of the app. From there I built out an array of processes that were initially intended purely for use for the nonprofit but eventually realized that other professional photographers or digital asset managers would likely benefit from what I had developed. I have made the application as configurable and multi-functional as possible to allow for a variety of workflows. I hope this will find its way to the right people.

Who hunted Archyv?

Archyv was hunted by Josh DeLeenheer. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
