This is such a major shift for Apple — and a welcome one.
The program is part of Apple's efforts to "further expand access to repairs". Still, Apple cautions that the "vast majority" of customers should still visit a professional repair provider, such as an Apple Store, to ensure their devices are repaired safely and reliably.
Great to see this move. I guess this also comes because their user base is so huge that it is difficult to provide everyone with support and repairs in a timely and efficient manner.
Thanks Chris for introducing such a useful self service repair! It's an awesome way to allow users more transparency and autonomy when it comes to troubleshooting their own issues. Great job!
For those with the expertise and confidence to handle repairs, having access to detailed steps for various repairs, such as display replacements, is a valuable resource. It aligns with the trend of promoting device longevity and user empowerment.
Wishing users success in their self-service repair endeavors, and kudos to Apple for supporting a more sustainable approach to device maintenance!
I think this will be very useful for people who want to outsource repairs! I'm happy to support this launch
Interesting product! How do you plan on monetizing? Do you have a partnership in place with Apple? You could potentially get a deal with the warranty services as you reduce costs.
It's great that they're providing steps for out-of-warranty repairs like display replacements.
I wonder if there's support or guidance available in case someone encounters difficulties during the repair process? Also, are there any prerequisites or specific tools needed for using this suite effectively?
I love this, I always have issues with apple, this looks like it can solve my problems😄
Super neat to see this shift. I remember taking apart and replacing iPhone parts a few years ago on the older models. Maybe that can come back!
Also looks like it works for Macbooks :o
