Hi Product Hunt 👋 I'm Shikhar, the solo founder of Anshin.
I built it for myself first. I wanted a space to actually think through what was going on in my head — but every option meant handing the most private thing I have, my own reflections, to someone else's cloud, behind a monthly subscription, often with an account and an email I didn't want to give.
So Anshin runs entirely on your Mac. The AI is a local model. During a session, nothing you write leaves your device — zero outbound traffic. There's no account, no login, no server to breach. The only network calls Anshin makes at all are a one-time model download on first launch — and the app shows you exactly where your data lives on disk.
The part I'm most proud of is the depth. This isn't a ChatGPT wrapper with a calming wallpaper. There are real, structured tools built in — Thought Records, Mood Tracking, a Values Compass, a Worry Jar, a Grounding Toolkit, Unsent Letters — and it quietly surfaces your patterns across sessions instead of forgetting you every time.
