I'm Ashwin, an engineer at Octane Innovations in Kerala, India. AlloCat started as my own itch: I'd begin every budgeting app with good intentions and quit by week two, not because budgeting is hard, but because logging is. Every expense is a small tax on your attention, and eventually you stop paying it.
Here, almost every UPI payment and card swipe already sends you a bank SMS. That's the ledger. It's just sitting on your phone doing nothing. So AlloCat reads it, on-device, plain regex, no LLM, nothing uploaded, RECEIVE_SMS only so it never touches your inbox history, and turns it into a categorised transaction. You budget once a month; the tracking happens on its own.
The rest is what I wanted for myself: net worth, savings goals, debts and money lent out, full offline support, and an AI chat that actually knows your numbers instead of giving generic advice.

The SMS tracking is Android-only for now; the web app works anywhere.

Automatic expense tracking is probably my favorite part. I used to track my expenses manually in Notion, but I’d always end up forgetting a few transactions. AlloCat takes care of that by automatically picking up transactions from SMS and categorizing them. No bank login, no manually adding every payment, and everything stays on the phone. It’s simple, but it makes keeping track of my spending so much easier
I strongly suggest more people to use the app. Mainly the auto-tracking feature helps to track the spendings in accordance with the allocated category. So instead of categorising the spends after we do all the payments Allocat helps us to bring every rupees a purpose at first itself, notifying use whenever we are about to finish any budget or overspend.
