Hey PH! I built Alarmly because I was the guy who set six alarms between 6:45 and 7:30 AM and still showed up late to everything.
The core problem is simple: regular alarm apps let you dismiss without thinking. Your half-asleep brain taps "stop" before you're even conscious. So I built an alarm that requires your brain to actually turn on first.
The challenge system is the heart of Alarmly. You pick what wakes you up best -- solve math problems, type a motivational phrase, shake your phone 30 times, or my personal favorite: the photo challenge. It uses ML object detection to verify you actually photographed your bathroom sink or coffee maker. You have to physically get out of bed. No cheating.
The streak system keeps you accountable long-term. Every morning you complete a challenge, your streak grows. Miss a day, it resets. There are milestone badges at 7, 14, 30, 60, 90, 180, and 365 days. Something about not wanting to break a 30-day streak gets you out of bed faster than any alarm sound ever could.
During onboarding, you write a personal promise about why you want to wake up, select your goals, and sign it with your finger. It sounds silly but it creates real psychological commitment. Behavioral science backs this up.
I also added a curated sleep sounds library to help you fall asleep in the first place -- nature, white noise, ambient sounds with a persistent mini player.
