Aktar is a free, open-source app for instantly sharing files through your own S3-compatible storage. Drop a file and Aktar uploads it to S3, Cloudflare R2, Backblaze B2, MinIO or similar storage, then copies the shareable link to your clipboard. Works with any file: screenshots, logs, builds, videos. No accounts, no intermediary servers, and your files stay in your own storage. Available on Mac, Windows and iOS, with Android coming soon.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built Aktar because sharing a file shouldn't require uploading it to someone else's cloud first.
I already use S3-compatible storage for my own projects, but sharing a file usually meant opening a dashboard, uploading it, finding the public URL, and copying it manually. I wanted that whole flow to take a few seconds.
So I built Aktar - a native macOS menu bar app that uploads files directly to your own S3-compatible storage and instantly copies the shareable link to your clipboard.
It works with services like Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, Backblaze B2, MinIO and other S3-compatible providers. There's no Aktar account, no intermediary server, and the app is completely open source.
macOS is the first release, and I'm planning Windows, iOS and Android next.
I'd especially love feedback on the setup flow and what storage providers or features you'd like to see next. 🙌
shipping speed on this thread is wild. one thing I didn't see covered: if I share a temp link and then realize I sent it to the wrong person, is there a way to kill it early from the app, or am I stuck waiting out the 5/15 min window? for the short-lived links that's probably fine, but for the 24h/7-day ones I'd want a kill switch.
Congrats, Mert! Instant file sharing from your own cloud, with burn-after-read and expiry, is the right privacy-first take. Cross-platform Mac/Windows/iOS out of the gate is impressive.
Thanks for shipping AKTB-002 so quickly! Just saw v0.5.2: Test Connection now shows each step and explains why a public link fails. That's exactly where silent 403s bite the first time you point Aktar at a new R2/S3 bucket. Great to see 4 requests shipped today. Tebrikler, başarılar! 🚀

Aktar was hunted by Mert Topuz. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
