Airdrum
Turn your phone into an air-drumming set with zero latency
AirDrum turns your smartphone into a virtual drumstick using high-precision hardware rotation and linear acceleration sensors. Play cymbals, snare, hi-hat, and kick in mid-air with under-20ms audio response, custom sensitivity calibration, and 3 realistic drum kits. Completely free and offline.
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I built AirDrum because I wanted a way to practice drum grooves and rhythm anytime, anywhere, without carrying around bulky practice pads or hardware.
AirDrum uses a dedicated low-latency audio pipeline via Android's SoundPool along with raw hardware sensor fusion:
🥁 Key Features:
Motion Engine: Uses ROTATION_VECTOR combined with LINEAR_ACCELERATION for natural wrist flick detection and hit isolation.
Interactive 5-Step Calibration: Calibrates to your exact natural holding angles and hand posture.
3 Studio Kits: Rock, Acoustic Studio, and Electronic kits featuring trimmed, uncompressed CC0 audio samples.
Zero Bloat: 100% offline, privacy-first, and zero data tracking.
I would love to hear feedback from drummers, musicians, and Android developers on the sensor feel and response time. What instruments or features should I add next?
Thanks for checking it out! 🚀
