Hi, I'm Sergey. I made ai-usage because I kept hitting the Claude Code 5-hour limit in the middle of a task. With a couple of laptops, a build server and some bots on shared logins, I never knew who was using what. ai-usage is one small binary. Every 15 minutes it reads what Claude Code, Codex and Grok already write on disk, asks the installed tools for quota, and exits. It doesn't call the provider APIs or read credentials, so it spends none of your quota. You get one page with every subscription, a forecast to the reset, and a short attention list when something is off. On a Mac there's a menu bar app. Teams of up to 50 machines share one key. The numbers go to a free relay (or your own); names, emails and paths are sealed with the key, and prompts and code are never sent. It's free and MIT-licensed. Forecasts are estimates from your own pace, and Windows is still experimental. I'd love to hear what's missing for your setup.

Who hunted ai-usage?

ai-usage was hunted by Sergey Petrov. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
