I like this approach. It is pretty simple to build a regex by describing the desired outcome.
One thing that builds confidence in regex builders is the ability to test the generated regex with example strings, highlighting those that meet the conditions of the regex.
It might be an interesting addition to add auto-generated test examples and allow users to add additional scenarios after generation.
Amazing, love this idea. I hope to never make my own regex again :) One thought here would be to include edge cases as verification from the user. So essentially the AI should come up with edge cases that it may or may have not handled well and then present them to the user. The user would then say how it should be handled and the AI would propose a regex accordingly.
Good idea into making this a mini gpt for regex. how can we ensure that we get the correct answer? for example, with chatgpt you can tell it to regenerate based off New context. is that possible with this tool?
