Finally built the thing I kept wishing existed.
Every time I evaluated an AI model for a client project, I'd spend hours across 10+ tabs trying to answer the same basic questions: Can I actually use this commercially? Does it comply with GDPR? What's the real token cost at scale? Is it high-risk under the EU AI Act?
So I built aimodels.directory — a single reference for 90+ models covering licensing (Apache-2.0, MIT, Proprietary), pricing, EU AI Act risk tier, GDPR compliance, commercial use rights, and deprecation status.
With EU AI Act full application hitting in August 2026, this feels like the right time to have a clear, open record of where every major model stands.
