I built Aftermath because a lot of file tasks are extremely simple, but uploading a private file to somebody else's server just to resize an image, combine two PDFs or remove metadata felt unnecessary. Aftermath is a growing collection of browser-local tools for images, PDFs, video, audio, QR codes and everyday browser tasks. There is no account or upload queue, and selected files stay in the browser while you work. I'd especially like to hear about the small annoying file task you still end up searching for another tool to solve.
Aftermath File Fixer is a free, local-first browser toolbox for people who need to fix, inspect, convert or prepare a file without first uploading it to a remote processing service. It includes focused tools for resizing and compressing images, meeting exact image upload requirements, merging and splitting PDFs, creating PDFs from images, trimming, compressing and converting video, editing and converting audio, scanning and creating QR codes, removing metadata, and checking file properties. It also includes browser utilities such as screen and voice recording, timers, JSON formatting, typing tests and device checks. Selected files are processed locally in the user's current browser session. Tools that change a file create a separate download instead of replacing the original. Aftermath requires no account or upload queue and is designed for practical one-off tasks where speed, clarity and privacy matter.
