aerost.art
Real-time hot air balloon simulator driven by live winds
Launch a virtual hot air balloon from any coordinate on Earth and let real-time surface winds carry it across satellite maps. Try the multiplayer "Fiesta" racing mode by changing altitudes to catch different wind currents, or track the autonomous admin balloon currently replicating Jules Verne's famous route across Africa.
Hi Product Hunt community! 👋The idea for aerost.art came to me while analyzing wind forecast maps. I started wondering: "Where would the wind take me if I launched a hot air balloon right here, right now?"To answer that, I built this web-based simulator. It pulls real-time surface wind vectors so you can launch from any coordinate on Earth and watch the landscape drift below via satellite imagery. What you can explore right now:Virtual Flight: Launch from your backyard and see where today's weather takes you.The Fiesta Game: A multiplayer mode where you can change altitudes to catch different wind currents and race others.Jules Verne Live Run: In the "Live" section, an autonomous balloon is currently tracking across Africa, replicating the exact route from "Five Weeks in a Balloon".I operate on a strictly $0 budget and can only dedicate 3 hours per week to this passion project. It's fully functional but still needs some polish.I would absolutely love to hear your honest feedback:How does the UI/UX and map loading performance feel on your devices? What features should I add to the "Fiesta" racing game to make it more engaging?Thank you so much for checking it out! Let's chat in the comments! 🎈
