Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I’m the founder of aegis, and I’m thrilled to share what we’ve been building with you today. I started aegis with a simple, deeply personal goal: I want people to feel truly safe in this world. My sister has suffered from seizures most of her life. A few years ago, she had a seizure while walking home, and when she woke up, she was being sexually assaulted. After a seizure, a person is often disoriented and completely nonverbal, she was unable to call for help or tell anyone what happened. I searched everywhere for a tool that could automatically detect a crisis, notify me, or alert authorities when she couldn't speak for herself. When I realized nothing met those standards, I decided to build aegis. Existing safety tools simply don't account for real-world trauma or physical incapacitation. Texting a static GPS coordinate to a friend leaves loved ones helpless, and manual panic buttons fail if you can't speak or navigate your phone screen. Whether you're navigating a medical condition, walking home late, working night shifts, or living with a physical disability, emergency tech should protect you when you're at your most vulnerable. When building aegis, our focus was bridging the gap between everyday peace of mind and real-world emergency response, without sacrificing privacy. Not every situation calls for police or paramedics, so aegis lets you quickly alert designated loved ones/emergency contacts (your "Protectors") with real-time location updates when you just want someone looking out for you. When a true crisis occurs, aegis links directly to 24/7 UL-certified dispatchers while transmitting a live context payload, including real-time GPS, streaming audio/video, and vital medical profiles, so first responders know exactly what to expect even if you can't say a word. We also built an adaptive UI tailored for users with mobility limitations or physical impairments who can't navigate complex menus. Coming soon, we are also introducing Athena AI, which will learn routine behaviors to detect anomalies and trigger automated check-ins before a situation escalates. I’d love to get your thoughts, answer any questions, and hear your feedback on how we can make aegis even better!
