The inspiration was a rumour I couldn't stop thinking about: people on 996 schedules quietly running personal AI agents so their relationships didn't go cold while they shipped. Clever, and completely private — nobody was going to launch it. I thought the honest version deserved to exist: your own account, your own voice, rules you can read before you trust it.
The problem it solves is smaller than it sounds. Not "replace you" — cover you. The good morning at 7:14 when you're already in a standup. The reply that would have sat unread for nine hours. The follow-up you'd have sent if you'd remembered.
What changed while building it: it started as reply-only, and that turned out to be half a product. A thread that only answers can't stay warm; it can only not die. So it learned to write first — the good morning, the birthday — and to nudge when a thread goes quiet, less often each time, because the needy one is worse than the absent one.
