Hi Product Hunt, I'm Oscar. My co-founder Zeth and I are both from Hong Kong.
Back home, when you are stuck on something big (quit the job? is this the right person?) you go see a fortune teller. He takes your birthday, reads your chart, and tells you what he sees. No hedging. Then I moved to the US and the closest thing was a horoscope app that only knows my sun sign, or a chatbot that only knows what I typed five minutes ago.
So we built the uncle. Mr. 8aZi works out your BaZi chart from your birthday with a real calculation engine (the math is not left to the AI), and then answers your questions from it, in his own voice.
What changed along the way: our first version was a personality-type quiz. People liked their result and then had nothing to do. What they really wanted was to ask a question and get a straight answer. So the whole thing turned into a sitting at his desk. The mahjong table came later, because a grid of Chinese characters scared people off and tiles did not.
What is live today is the free demo at 8azi.io: three swipes, your chart on the table, and three questions with him. It ends in a waitlist for the full app (daily readings, compatibility with friends, longer sittings).
It is for fun and reflection, not a replacement for real advice.
